Episode 4: Rick McMurray

Our guest on next weeks episode is the mighty Rick McMurray, drummer and founder member of Ash.

We chat to Rick about Bowie, The Cramps, Ash’s role during the 1998 Good Friday referendum campaign, Bono, and a whole lot more.

BBC report on the Good Friday referendum in 1998, featuring live footage of performances by Ash and U2.

Rick’s favourite live album (at least his favourite for running to) is “If You Want Blood” by AC/DC, recorded at the Apollo Theatre, Glasgow in April 1978.

The Cramps live in Amsterdam, 1990. This isn’t the live performance Rick talks about in this episode - but the same energy from Lux Interior is here…

Ash’s last gig before lockdown - in Stavanger, Norway, March 11 2020.
